Reapit is pleased to announce that it has achieved ISO 27001 certification for Information Security Management following the successful completion of a rigorous independent audit.
This certification means that Reapit has implemented one of the highest internationally recognised security frameworks in the world and demonstrates that we have taken all the necessary measures to ensure that our customers’ data is well-protected against cyber-attacks.
Cyber-crime is a growing risk for UK businesses. Estate agencies in particular are at increasing risk of attacks and breaches, potentially resulting in operational down-time and lost productivity, in addition to high penalties and reputational damages facing those businesses that do not adequately prepare.
In 2022, almost half (47%) of real estate organisations reported cyber-security breaches or attacks, according to the government’s Cyber Security Breaches Survey 2022. However, the government claims that 46% of businesses have not acted in the past 12 months to identify cyber-security risks. This is a significant problem for small businesses in particular, with the insurers Hiscox reporting that one small business in the UK is successfully hacked every 19 seconds.
According to Gallagher, the average cost of a data breach is £148 per record – a lot of money when multiplied by the thousands or tens of thousands of records affected by a breach. Damages can be reputational as well as financial, with a study from Forrester finding that up to 38% of UK companies claimed that they had lost business because of security issues.
In addition to its ISO 27001 certification, Reapit is uniquely positioned to provide a robust security infrastructure that offers protection from a wide variety of cyber-threats. Our infrastructure security is further enhanced via our single-sign-on (SSO) solution that enables our customers to sign in once using one set of credentials, giving them one-click access to Reapit’s market-leading solutions and third-party applications available through the Reapit AppMarket. Reapit’s SSO solution is standards-based, secure and scalable. Providing multi-factor authentication (MFA), encryption of data-at-rest and in-transit, and identity and access management including Microsoft Active Directory, SAML 2, OAuth 2 and OpenID Connect.
Reapit is also partnered with Amazon as the company’s strategic hosting partner with regards to cloud hosting. Amazon Web Services (AWS) is an industry acknowledged, enterprise level, provider of infrastructure services. Reapit’s partnership with Amazon provides additional layers of safeguarding and futureproofing to help protect against contingent threats, with AWS disaster recovery and annual penetration tests on our infrastructure undertaken by an accredited external organisation who are Crest and Check certified, with results reviewed and actioned by Reapit as required.
Mark Armstrong, Group Chief Executive Officer, Reapit, said: “Cyber-security is vitally important for almost any business, particularly those businesses like estate agencies that manage large amounts of valuable customer data. Many businesses still do not have adequate cyber-security measures in place to protect against hacks or data breaches, and in an increasingly uncertain world the risk is high that these threats will only continue to grow. We are uniquely positioned as a leading property technology supplier to offer estate agencies a robust security infrastructure through our award-winning platform that can provide peace of mind and operational security to agencies of all sizes.”

Receiving this certification demonstrates our commitment to provide our customers with a security framework of the highest internationally recognised standard. There are very few technology suppliers to the residential estate agency industry that hold this certification, and our investment shows how seriously we take our responsibility to protect our customers with world-class controls, processes, and protocols in a time of increasing cybercrime threats. From our ISO 27001 certification to our SSO authentication, disaster recovery, and other endpoint security initiatives, we put cyber-resilience and the protection of our customers’ critical systems front and centre.”
