Reapit’s Solihull-based team is leading the way on diverse hiring through their successful partnership with employment non-profit Generation UK. Reapit, the leading end-to-end technology provider for estate agencies, has bolstered their approach to recruitment by filling tech roles with candidates from Generation’s IT Support Bootcamps. Designed in partnership with industry, this free-to-access full-time programme equips budding Service Desk professionals with the technical skills to obtain entry-level roles, as well as leveraging Generation’s world-renowned expertise in soft skill development.
Since starting the partnership in 2021, Generation candidates hired by Reapit have successfully launched careers as Software Analysts – some having already secured promotions – supporting the company to run their multi award-winning technology platform in the UK and Ireland.
The two organisations are celebrating their partnerships with a new promotional video.
There is a large and growing demand for digital talent in the West Midlands. SuperTechWM, the tech supercluster supporting professional services across the region, has reported a 524% growth in property starts-ups and scale-ups across the patch. That’s alongside a nearly 300% increase in PropTech employee numbers. However, there is a risk that not all groups stand to benefit from such phenomenal growth. Currently, only 25% of tech workers in the UK belong to ethnic minority groups and only 28% of tech workers are gender minorities.
This is where Reapit and Generation UK are working to buck the trend.
Of the 2,350+ people the Generation UK has supported since launching their skills bootcamps in 2019, 66% have been from ethnic minorities and over 40% women. Across their programmes, 77% of participants were unemployed before engaging with the charity, with the remainder in zero-hours or unstable part-time work.
Sue Marotta, VP People and Culture, Reapit said “As a rapidly growing and innovative software company, working with a brilliant and diverse team is critical to the success of our organisation. By partnering with Generation, we are sourcing the skills and talent we need to deliver on our business objectives, whilst also driving forward our commitment to diverse and inclusive hiring practices.”
